Considerations when selecting the bridal gown

The bridal gown can look amazing or simply become a horrible affair if you select the wrong fabric or corset. Fortunately we at bridal gownsEurobride have the expertise to not only guide you in the right direction, but have already put together a collection of wedding attire suitable for specific fabrics and corsets.

One of the key ingredients for a stunning bridal gown is the fabric used. You will find that we offer garments that are made of satin, crepe, silk, organza, polyester, tulle and taffeta of which the silk and taffeta garments are slightly more expensive. Polyester or nylon satin is a rather heavy fabric which leaves less to be said for its breathing qualities, making it better suited for cold weather than hot summer temperatures.

Another consideration when selecting a bridal gown is that of custom design or selection of one of the garments in our boutiques. The garments can be fitted according to client requirements. Custom designs take longer and will of course also be more expensive. The choice of fabric and embroidery will influence the price. If you don’t like a rushing sound when moving around then the taffeta fabric beautiful as it is will not be for you. It is still however, one of the most sought after fabrics for the making of a bridal gown.

Another consideration often overlooked is the lingerie to be worn. If you plan on wearing a corset underneath the bridal gown, you will also have to consider how the dress will display. Keep in mind that the corset is also made from layers and as such the wedding garment must be fitted with it unless you don’t mind ending up with a garment that simply won’t go over the corset on your wedding day. The following are important considerations for the selection of the corset to be worn under the bridal gown:

Colour coordination

If the corset goes underneath the dress you should avoid bright colours and stay away from decorated corsets which may look amazing, but once the wedding dress is fitted the lace and all the decorations will show through the garment. Select colours such as beige or champagne rather than a white on white.

Fabrics

Rather select a corset made from a lighter fabric as it can get quite warm when you have two pieces of clothing over one another. Stay clear from any patterned fabrics which will also be visible through the wedding dress.

Support

If you prefer to wear a bra rather than a corset you should consider the support to your breasts. Low back bras are often essential when you wear a bridal gown with an open back, but do note that you will have minimal support. Pretty much the same principle applies to corsets. Don’t go for a back-open corset for the same reason if you need breast support. If you want to create emphasis on the bust you can use a corset with support from underneath the breasts to give the lifting effect required. Under bust styles provide more focus on the hips with little or no bust support and should be worn with a bra whilst the over bust styles give the lift required when the cup styles are used.
