Waistlines for classic wedding dresses
The waistline plays just as an important role as the neckline in making classic wedding dresses come to their full right. We discuss a few of the waistline styles that can be incorporated to add the dash of style required for classic wedding dresses below.
Natural
This type of waistline is perfect for the lady with a petite figure as it has a tight bodice and starts to clock out fairly high. It can work with most body types.
Empire
With the waistline being exceptionally high, it is suited for the lady with larger hips or for one with undefined hips. It also works well with shorter women. It is not suited for the hour glass figure as it tends to hide the hipline.
Drop
This waistline style is perfect for the lady with larger breasts, perfectly shaped body or someone who is slim. The style is not suited for the box or apple figure.
Basque
If you want to create the effect of a slender or thin body then this is the waistline style for you.
In addition to waistline the train of a dress is often overlooked when creating effect. It should be noted that the train will only fit specific styles and should thus be carefully chosen. The following train styles are available:
- Chapel is around 1.2 m from the waist.
- Royal is about 2.7 m from the waist.
- Court is about 1 m from the waist
- Cathedral is 1.8 to 2.8 m from the waist
- Sweep is short.
