Selecting the bridesmaid dress

The bridesmaid dress traditionally has been a sensitive issue. Understandably the bride doesn’t want to be overshadowed by the bridesmaids, but fortunately it is no longer a requirement to make the poor bridesmaids wear garments that simply makes them look awful.

• Stay away from oversized bows that go on the butt area. Few women are slim enough to make the dress work for them if there is a large bow that emphasizes the area that they would rather have ignored.
• The same applies for puffy arms and oversized shoulder pads. Think about the poor skinny girl that will simply look like a quarter back with heavily padded shoulders. Even worse, consider your friends who may have big upper arms and bodies. They will look like bouncers, which is something best avoided at a wedding.
• Also avoid the selection of screaming bright colours since it is not a carnival, but a wedding. That being said, cream colours don’t go well with fair skinned girls.

Keep the skin colour, taste, and physical build of your bridesmaids in mind when selecting their garments.
